| I just posted specifically about the South Loop, but I also went out to Haw Ridge park (originally found this for trail running) as well as Concord Park. Haw Ridge is on Edgemoor Road in Oak Ridge and is border by Melton Hill Lake. This is a fantastic place for MTB riding or trail running, especially if you're working at ORNL due to its closeness to the lab. With enough daylight you can easily stop by here after work for quicker rides/runs. I would highly recommend this park to anyone in the area looking for plenty of great trails. It is plenty big enough to get lost, which for me is the perfect size ;) I first explored Haw Ridge by taking the outer loop (along the shoreline). This is West Shore to Lake Road to Red Shore to East Shore to East Ridge and finally taking the greenway back to the parking lot. You can also hook back up onto Soccer Trail on your way back to have less greenway. I did not get a chance to check out Washing Machine (YouTube that...it looks sweet) due to a weekend closure for a public hunt. This seems to occur three times during the Fall. Be aware of this so you don't messed up by this. I actually ended up going to Concord Park because I tried to go to Haw Ridge during a hunt. It worked out as this is a great park too. It is much smaller, but totally worth it. We went completely around Mainline for a warm up and then to Lake Shore. Then we rode around Oriental Loop and to Middle East Loop. Finally we took Inner Loop back over to Mainline. This is a shorter ride, but could easily have been repeated or added variants of other parts of the loops, as we didn't really ride the full loops, rather took connections as they arose. Middle East was my favorite as there are a couple of jumps and a pretty good size wood plank berm. I also did some trail running at Concord Park and would totally recommend it for either MTB or running. I went out to the South Loop trail on Sunday. Super awesome!!! I actually only rode about half of what is available. Started at the Mead's Quarry parking lot and down the greenway over to Wyatt and then to Dozer trails. Then took Bluff down to reconnect with Dozer. Then Lost Chromosome to Chain Ring (in the Private Easment, lower right). AC-DC in the private easement is fantastic. Then made our way over to the Anderson School parking lost via Lost Chromosome and then just rode back to the parking lot via Island Home Pike. That ride alone was about 1.5 hours for us. We did spend quite a bit of time down on AC-DC though. The main purple line in the map below is the actual marked South Loop trail. I could easily spend multiple days exploring the full system. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
